When it comes to surviving in urban environments, many focus on things such as what knives to wear at all times, what water to drink, and what non perishables to stock up on. Very few discuss, however, what to bring all these neccesities with when you’re out looking for food or trying to survive outside of your home. The Clava Urban Survival Backpack, while not necessarily created with urban survival in mind, is a great solution for those times when you’ll need to have more than just your wits about you.
The sturdy leather pack has deep pockets, magnetic clasps, and can change from a stylized purse to a drawstring backpack in seconds. It comes with a leather and metal carrying handle, which helps makes it resistant to wear and tear during the worst of times. Any case that can take a beating is worth having when you’re looking to survive, since a single snap can mean the difference between having everything you need to losing it all over a body of water.
While it doesn’t come in an urban camouflage, the Clava Urban Survival Backpack does come in a variety of colors: Black, Cafe, and Tan. Black would definitely get my highest recommendation, as it won’t stand out with dark clothing and can avoid the scuffed and scraped look that might occur after some hiking about.
Pocket wise, it comes with two side pockets for easy access to those things that you’ll need to pull out quickly. They’re zip pockets as well, so that if the bag is ever held askew nothing will pop out at an inopportune time. Inside the actual main bag itself, there lies a secret, hidden zip pocket for those who wish to keep certain items (money, medication, etc) hidden at all times from interlopers. There are also two other, smaller pockets on the side, also zippered. These two could come in handy for water bottles for cleaning out wounds or a small portable umbrella.
Dimension wise, it depends on whether you are measuring the Clava Urban Survival Backpack through either the pockets or without the pockets. Without the pockets, this conversion purse and backpack comes in at a 12 x 13 x 5 inches. Taking the pockets into account, however, you get a nicer 14 x 13 x 7.5. No matter what, when the bag remains empty it comes in at a nice and light five pounds, which will make it no strain on your back when you’re taking it around for long periods of time, no matter what the enviroment.
So, for those looking for a nice, big bag for holding along all their supplies, weapons, and assorted survival needs, the Clava Urban Survival Backpack fills in that niche incredibly well. It’s sturdy, large but not overbearing, and comes with enough pockets to keep your goods exactly where you need them, no matter what. The light-weight design doesn’t hurt, either, and you really can’t do worse for a nice looking yet nice working piece of equipment.
