Key Supplies for Surviving a Cold Winter
In February 2011, television viewers in the United States saw shocking footage of a blizzard that stranded motorists on Chicago’s famous Lake Shore Drive. Many of the drivers where on their way home from their downtown offices and were stranded wearing business clothing in vehicles with no emergency supplies or provisions. Expecting a short drive home where they planned to weather out the storm, these drivers or bus riders were completely unprepared to survive an evening stranded on the road while winds gusted to sixty miles and hour and lightening and thunder roared in the sky as almost two feet of snow fell and swirled around the stranded motorists. How well would these motorists have fared if they had to survive alone in their car for two or three days while waiting to be rescued?
